Yesterday, France faced Australia in their first group match. They thrashed them 4-1 to put them top of the table. This made their knockout stage chances closer. Kylian Mbappe and Oliver Giroud starred, scoring 3 goals altogether. Surprisingly, Australia struck first in the 9th minute after a beautiful cross to Goodwin, who shot right past Hugo Lloris into the roof of the net. This did not dampen the French spirits. Instead, they came back in the 27th minute when Hernandez swooped in a magnificent cross to Rabiot, who headed it past the Australian Goalkeeper. That was not the end of the story yet. Kylian Mbappe flicked in a ball to Rabiot, who calmly passed to Oliver Giroud, who magnificently tapped it into the net. In the Second Half, France came better than ever. The Paris Saint Germain striker finally got his first World Cup goal since the 2018 World Cup Final. Lastly to wrap it up, Oliver Giroud scored again to make it 4-1.

The French side had most of the ball so they outclassed Australia with 62%. In the End, the AC Milan Striker[Oliver Giroud] acclaimed the Man of the Match award with a 7.81 rating
