A few hours ago, the African Champions beat Ecuador to successfully qualify for the Round of 16 for the first time since 2002. Ismalia Sarr and Koulibaly starred with superb goals. Senegal started with a few chances but they could not find that killer goal yet. Although in the 44th minute, Sarr went down in the penalty box and the Referee awarded a penalty. The Watford Winger calmly rolled it past the keeper.
Suddenly in the second half, Caicedo scored a superb goal after a brilliant cross from Ecuador. It looked like Senegal were heading into another draw….
Although that did not stop the Teranga Lions. In the 70th minute, Koulibaly scored a magnificent volley past the Ecuador Goalkeeper. This time, Senegal held on to qualify for the knockout stages. Surprisingly, Ecuador ended up with more possession and the Man of the Match Award. Ecuador had 61% of the ball with Senegal getting 39% of the ball. The Man of the Match went to Caicedo with a 8.02 rating.
Next up, Senegal will face England on Sunday in the Round of 16. I will tell you about the match soon enough. Goodbye for now
