Yesterday, Argentina proclaimed a spot in the quarter finals, beating Australia 2-1 at the Al Rayyan Stadium in Qatar. This game started a bit boring for both teams. Nobody could find that killer chance in the first 30 minutes. Suddenly, the Paris Saint Germain Star [Lionel Messi] cut inside the box after collecting the ball from Alexis Mac Allister. He stayed on his feet and calmly slotted it past the Australian goalkeeper. In the second half, Alvarez added a second to wrap it up. That was not the end of the game yet, though. Goodwin struck a superb shot blocked by Fernandez into the back of the Argentina net. Fortunately, Argentina held on to qualify into the quarter finals against the Netherlands.
Argentina ended up with 61%, beating Australia’s 39% of the ball. After a brilliant performance from Lionel Messi, he acclaimed the prestigious Man of the Match Award, with a 7.59 rating.
Unfortunately, I have seemed to not be up to date with the World Cup matches. I will try to catch them up soon. Goodbye for now.
