Yesterday, Southampton shocked Manchester City 2-0, following goals from Mara and Djnepo. This all started when Lyanco slotted a ball into Mara who superbly volleyed it past Ortega. In the second half, Pep Guardiola drastically put Haaland and De Bruyne on but that just made things worse. Djnepo hit a shot from range and fooled the keeper. This ended the game for the Manchester side. Southampton’s performance deserved the semi-finals more than ever.

Despite losing, Manchester City ended up with 72% of the ball beating Southampton’s 28%. However that could not change the result of the Man of the Match Award. James Ward-Prowse proclaimed the Man of the Match Award with a 8.28 rating. Southampton will be playing against Newcastle in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup.
