Yesterday, Southampton faced West Ham at the London Stadium. They lost 1-0 to the Hammers side to darken their worries of getting relegated. This game started with a chance for Southampton when Walcott hit a vicious volley which just went wide. In the 25th minute, West Ham took the lead when Kehrer swooped in a magnificent cross that was headed in by Aguerd. Southampton came out with another chance when Elyounoussi hit a sweet shot that was smacked away by Fabianski. West Ham nearly made it 2-0 when Jarrod Bowen skipped past 2 defenders smashed the ball on the top of the crossbar. Another chance came for the Saints when Sulemana struck a nice shot which went wide. Later in the match, Benrahma hit a swerving free-kick which was saved by the Southampton goalkeeper. West Ham attacked again and a Southampton defender nearly put the ball into the Southampton net. Southampton nearly equalised at the end of the game when Onachu bundled in a header which hit the crossbar.
Southampton ended up with 57%, beating West Ham’s 43%. The man of the match award went to Nayef Aguerd after his exceptional header. West Ham will be facing Newcastle United in the Premier League on Wednesday with Southampton facing Manchester City on Thursday in the Premier League. Who will win? We will find out soon enough.
