Yesterday, Arsenal faced Southampton at the Emirates stadium. This match ended in a tense 3-3 draw. This game started with a grave mistake from Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale after he passed straight to Alcaraz, who calmly hammered it past the Arsenal goalkeeper. It got worse for Arsenal when Alcaraz slipped a nice pass to Walcott, who slotted it past the keeper. Of course, Arsenal could not let Southampton get away with this. In the 20th minute, Saka swooped in a magnificent cross into Martinelli who hit a first time shot past the goalkeeper. It nearly became 3-1 to the visitors when Elyounoussi bundled in a header that was saved by Ramsdale and Alcaraz hit a vicious shot on the rebound saved again by Ramsdale. Another close chance came for Arsenal, when Ben White flicked a header which was cleared off the line. Southampton scored again when James-Ward Prowse swooped in a fabulous cross, flicked on by Bella-Kotchap and headed in by Caleta-Car. However, Arsenal fought back. In the 88th minute, Martin Odegaard hit a superb shot into the bottom corner. And finally in the 90th minute, Bukayo Saka scored on the rebound after Reiss Nelson’s shot was saved.
Arsenal ended up with 74% of possession, beating Southampton’s possession, which was 26%. The Man of the Match Award went to Carlos Alcaraz with a 7.89 rating. Arsenal will be facing Manchester City on Wednesday in the Premier League with Southampton facing Bournemouth on Thursday. Who will win? We will find out soon enough.
