Yesterday, Brentford faced Aston Villa at the Gtech Community Stadium. The rigid game ended in a draw between the 2 sides. This game started with a chance for Aston Villa when Nicolas Buendia hit a vicious shot that was saved by David Raya. The first chance of the day. Brentford struck back with another chance when Schalde swooped a cross into the box which comfortably came into the goalkeeper’s arms. The Bees attacked again when Yensen crossed a nice ball into Mbeumo who was blocked by Moreno. Another close chance. Brentford nearly scored when Ivan Toney snatched a shot that was smacked away by Emilano Martinez. Again, Brentford had another brilliant chance when Mbeumo hit a nice cross into Schalde who went round the keeper but could not put the ball in the net. This should’ve been a warning sign for Aston Villa because in the second half, Ivan Toney scored after a super ball in by Mbeumo. Aston Villa could not let Brentford get away with that. The Lions produced another chance. Buendia passed to Ramsey who chipped it just over the bar. Finally, in the 87th minute, Douglas Luiz scored after a superb cross from Lucas Digne.
Brentford had 42% of possession beating, Aston Villa’s 58% of possession. The Man of the Match Award went to Ivan Toney with a 6.67 rating.
