The game started with a bright chance for West Ham when Jarrod Bowen hit a swerving shot that nearly caught out the Luton goalkeeper. The Hammers attacked again but not one of the players could put the ball in the net before Benrahma blasted it over. Suddenly, it seemed that West Ham would eventually get the breakthrough. Lucas Paqueta swooped in a brilliant cross that was bundled in by Jarrod Bowen. 1-0! Unfortunately for West Ham, that did not shake Luton. In the blink of an eye, it seemed that Luton were now attacking. Morris came out with a few chances to equalise, after heading it wide and blasting a shot over the bar. West Ham came out with another chance when Ward Prowse swooped in a cross that was headed by Kurt Zouma into the back of the net. 2-0! Luton came back with a goal in stoppage time but unfortunately they could not a grab a draw out of this game.

West Ham ended up with 61% of possession, beating Luton 39%. The Man of the Match Award went to Jarrod Bowen with a 8.14 rating.
