The Reds doubled their lead when Matty Cash scored an own goal after Darwin Nunez hit the post. 2-0! Liverpool nearly made it 3-0 when Trent Alexander Arnold swooped in a brilliant free-kick that was headed wide by Matip. Aston Villa had a chance to score too. Diaby passed to McGinn who blazed it over the bar. The Lions got another chance to score when Lucas Digne swooped in a fabulous cross that was headed by Cash which was saved by Allison. It looked like Liverpool had wrapped this up when Salah crossed a ball into Nunez who headed it wide. It seemed like the Reds would make it 3-0 soon. Nunez passed that was flicked on by Salah and into the net. 3-0! Salah had another chance but unfortunately it went over the bar.
