Hello and welcome to mylivefootballnews.com Today I will be talking about the match between West Ham and Aston Villa. The game started with a chance for Aston Villa when Bailey passed to Watkins whose shot was saved by Areola. After this close chance, there was a VAR check for a hand ball by Emerson that was eventually disallowed. Unfortunately for Aston Villa it was West Ham who struck first. In the 29th minute, Vladimir Coufal played a brilliant ball to Antonio who headed the ball past Martinez and into the Aston Villa net. 1-0! West Ham had thought they had doubled their lead again with Antonio again, but it was not to be. After a long check on VAR, the goal was disallowed when the ball touched Antonio’s hand. Aston Villa also had a close chance to score when Konsa’s shot was smacked away by Areola. It seemed like that Aston Villa would soon find the breakthrough. In the 79th minute Diaby passed to Zaniolo who hammered into the bottom corner. 1-1! West Ham thought they had scored again but it just was not their day. After another VAR check, West Ham’s goal was disallowed.
West Ham ended the match with only 31% of the possession, with Aston Villa collecting 69%. The Man of the Match award went to Michail Antonio with a 7.34 rating.
