Hello and welcome to mylivefootballnews.com. Today I will be talking about the match between Newcastle and Aston Villa. The score was 3-0. The game started with a goal for Newcastle when Joelinton past to Anthony Gordon who cut inside before hitting a curling shot past Emilano Martinez and into the net. 1-0! Villa had a good chance to equalise when Lucas Digne hit a curling free-kick that was smacked away by Dubravka. CLOSE! It got worse for Villa later on in the match when Jhon Duran fouled Fabian Schar. The Referee took notice of this and awarded Jhon Duran a RED card. The Magpies nearly made it 2 when Bruno Guimaraes passed to Tonali who hit a swerving shot that was saved by Martinez. It seemed that soon or later, Newcastle were going to to score. Newcastle made it 2-0 in the 59th minute, when Murphy played a perfect pass to Isak who tapped it into the net. 2-0! It nearly became three when Martinez passed it straight to Joelinton whose shot was blocked before Jacob Murphy’s shot hit the bar. The Magpies thought they had made it 3, when Bruno Guimaraes scored but it was not to be. After a quick check, they realised that it hit his arm and the goal would not stand. That disappointment of the goal not standing soon disappeared when Onana passed the ball straight to Joelinton and he hammered a powerful shot into the top corner to wrap things up. 3-0!
Newcastle ended the game with 62.8% possession, beating Aston Villa’s 37.2%. The Man of The Match Award went to Anthony Gordon with a 8.55 rating. Newcastle face Manchester United on Monday and Aston Villa will host Brighton on the same day as well as we build up to New Year’s Day.
