Hello and welcome to mylivefootballnews.com. Today I will be talking about the match between Liverpool and Aston Villa. The game ended 2-0. The game started with a chance for Aston Villa when Rogers played a fantastic pass to Ollie Watkins who dribbled before playing it back to Rogers who turned before hitting a brilliant shot that hit the right post. CLOSE! Villa had another chance to score when Kamara layed it off to Matty Cash who hit a swerving shot that was just tipped over by Mamardashvili. Liverpool thought they had taken the lead when Szoboszlai played a beautiful cross that was headed past the goalkeeper and into the net by Hugo Ekitike. However, after a VAR check the goal was disallowed because Ekitike was in an offside position. It seemed that that Liverpool goal was getting closer and closer. The title holders took the lead in stoppage time at the end of the first half when Martinez played it straight to Salah who tucked it past the keeper. 1-0!
Liverpool doubled their lead in the second half when Gakpo passed it Alexis Mac Allister who played it to Gravenberch who dribbled towards the Aston Villa goal before hitting a powerful shot that deflected off a Villa player and into the net. 2-0!
The game ended with Liverpool having 53.4% of possession, beating Villa’s 46.6%. The Man of the Match Award went to Dominik Szoboszlai with a 8.06 rating. Liverpool greet Real Madrid to Anfield in the Champions League on Tuesday while Villa host Maccabi Tel Aviv on Thursday in the Europa League.
