Hello and welcome to mylivefootballnews.com. Today I will be talking about the match between Tottenham and Aston Villa in the FA Cup. The game ended 1-2. The game started with a goal for Aston Villa in the 21st minute when McGinn slid it off to Malen, who played the ball straight into Buendia’s path, who took a touch before lashing it past Vicario and into the top corner. 0-1! Villa nearly doubled their lead when Rogers laid it off to Matty Cash who hit a tantalising powerful shot that was smacked away by the gloves of Gugliemo Vicario. CLOSE! Spurs thought they had equalised later in the first half when Simons drove through a couple of midfielders before playing a through-ball to Kolo Muani who chipped it past the diving Bizot, but he was in an offside position. We thought that might be the start of a Spurs comeback but unfortunately, Villa struck again just before half time in stoppage time when Malen passed it to Emi Buendia who flicked it on for Rogers who took a touch before placing it past Vicario. 0-2!

In the second half, Spurs came out a rejuvenated team. Porro dribbled at Maatsen before having his shot blocked but it came out to Joao Palhiniha who set the ball up for Xavi Simons who hit a dipping curling shot that was saved by Bizot. Tottenham finally did get their reward for this start to the second half with a goal when Kolo Muani wrestled of Bogarde before laying it off to Wilson Odobert who hit a low-driven shot past Bizot and into the left bottom corner. 1-2! GAME ON! Spurs started to really press the Villa players and were almost rewarded again but Palhinha’s shot was blocked by Pau Torres for a corner. Villa nearly changed the aspect of the game for Spurs when some brilliant build up led to Emi Buendia’s shot being cleared off the line by Pedro Porro. Spurs thought they had equalised again later in the second half when Kolo Muani played a lovely through-ball to Xavi Simons who went around the keeper before placing it into the corner but it wasn’t to be. Simons was in an offside position and the goal did not stand. Unfortunately, that was the last chance for the Lilywhites to salvage anything from the game.

Tottenham ended the match with 39.7% of possession with Villa having 60.3% of possession. The Man of the Match Award went to Emi Buendia for his lovely goal and assist. What Next? Spurs host West Ham in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before going to Germany to face Frankfurt in the Champions League while Villa face Everton at Villa park before going to Türkiye to face Fenerbahçe.
