Hello and welcome to mylivefootballnews.com. Today I will be talking about the match between Liverpool and Newcastle. The score was 4-1. The game started with a chance for Newcastle when Lewis Hall played it to Barnes who hit a curling shot that smacked the post from a free-kick. CLOSE! The Magpies took the lead in the 36th minute when Willock dribbled at the Liverpool defence before passing it to Barnes who flicked it on to Anthony Gordon who dribbled at Kerkez before slotting a powerful shot past Allison and into the bottom corner. 0-1! The second that goal went in , Liverpool clicked back into shape and equalised in a flash when Gakpo played it to Salah, who drove at Hall before whipping a cross that was blocked but it did bounce back to Gravenberch, who passed it to Wirtz ,who skilled through a couple of Newcastle defenders before cutting it back for Hugo Ekitike, who hammered it past Pope and into the bottom corner again. 1-1! The former Frankfurt man struck again just before half-time when Kerkez played a fabulous ball out to Ekitike who dribbled and beat Thiaw before clipping it powerfully into the far corner. 2-1!
In the second half, Ekitike could have had a hattrick when Szoboszlai whipped a long ball straight out to Ekitike, who had to battle past Burn before getting the ball and being through on goal but he dragged it wide of the post. Newcastle had a chance to level things up later in the second half when Trippier played a beautiful ball out to Thiaw from a free-kick who headed it on to Barnes who hit on the half-volley and his shot was smacked away by the gloves of Allison Becker. But with missed opportunities for Newcastle, came goals for Liverpool. In the 67th minute, The Reds scored again when Gakpo passed it Wirtz who played a brilliant one-two with Salah before firing it into the bottom corner. 3-1! Liverpool scored again in stoppage time, and this was quite an emotional goal when Szoboszlai whipped it in a corner and Nick Pope fumbled the ball before Konate bundled it in for Liverpool. 4-1! GAME OVER! This was emotional because this was the first time Konate had played a game for Liverpool ever since had to take a break to mourn his father’s death. We all wish him the best of luck.
The game ended with Liverpool having 53.8% of possession, beating Newcastle’s 46.2%. The Man of the Match Award went to Hugo Ekitike for his two brilliant goals last night with a 8.84 rating. What next? Liverpool host Manchester City in a Premier League showdown on Sunday, while, Newcastle face City later this week in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, hoping to keep their names on the trophy just like they did last year.
