Hello and welcome to mylivefootballnews.com. Today I will be talking about the match between Spurs and Coventry. The score was 3-1. The game started with a chance for Coventry when Van Erjwik played a lovely one-two with Sakamoto who drove into the Tottenham penalty area before having a swift shot blocked by Van Hecke and over the bar. Spurs took the lead in the 14th minute, when Kudus drove past Jay Dasilva before cutting it back for James Maddison who hit a curling shot past Rushworth and into the top corner. 1-0!
Coventry equalised later in the second half, when Rudoni bustled his way through the Tottenham defence before hitting a shot that came off Kinsky’s arm and into the back of the net. 1-1! As Tottenham searched for a chance to take the lead, time was starting to run out. Maddison past to Kudus who slid a low cross into the penalty area that was cleared out to Sandro Tonali whose fizzing powerful shot floated over the bar. CLOSE! The young Italian had another chance only a few minutes later when Solanke’s cross found its way to Tonali but his strike went just over the bar again. It felt like Spurs were soon going to find the breakthrough they needed. In the 58th minute, Tottenham took the lead when Maddison past to Robertson who clipped it up to Omar Marmoush who muscled off Van Erjwik before hitting a tantalising strike that went past Rushworth and into the bottom corner. 2-1! Now the question came if they could hold on to their lead….. They had already took the lead like this against Brighton in De Zerbi’s first home match last season before falling to a 2-2 draw due to Georginio Rutter’s equaliser. Thankfully for them it would not be the same problem. In the 90+6 min, just when Coventry were looking set to snatch a point form this match Spurs went on the attack, Tel swooping a ball in that bounced out to Solanke, who cut it back for Ben Davies who volleyed a low strike past the gloves of Rushworth and into the back of the net. 3-1! GAME OVER!
Tottenham Hotspur ended the match with 65.45 of possession, beating Coventry’s 34.6% The Man of the Match Award went to James Maddison with a 7.73 rating after his spectacular return to the starting XI, scoring and playing key passes that led to the next 2 goals. Special Mention goes out to Dejan Kulusevski who returned from injury that lasted nearly 2 yrs. What next? Spurs go to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in a spectacle of a London derby on Saturday at 17:30 live on Sky Sports Main Event, while Coventry introduce Fulham to their home at 15:00 on the same day.
