Hello and welcome to mylivefootballnews.com. Today we will be talking about a match between Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur. The score was 1-2. The game started with a goal for Spurs when Danso played a long throw-in into the box that was headed away by Bentancur and straight to Gallagher who took a touch to get it away from the Villa players before slicing a fantastic volley, low and hard into the bottom corner. 0-1! SPurs nearly doubled their advantage in the tie when Gallagher played it out to Kolo Muani who dribbled past Maatsen before playing it into the box only to be cleared by the Villa defence out to Joao Palhinha who hit a fantastic shot that smashed the post. CLOSE! Tottenham attacked again and nearly scored again when Gallagher and Tel played a lovely one two before Tel whipped it into the box to Kolo Muani whose shot was tipped over by Martinez. It seemed that Spurs had to get that second goal to see of the tie. Tel whipped it in from a corner and it bounced out to Danso whose shot was blocked before Udogie passed it straight back to Tel who turned past Maatsen and crossed it into the box straight to Richarlison who leaped over the Villa defence and headed it in. 0-2!
In the second half, it proved to be all Tottenham again as the Lilywhites nearly scored when Gallagher and Spence played a lovely couple of passes before Spence had is shot go narrowly wide. However the offside flag was up so even if he scored it wouldn’t have stood. Villa nearly got a goal back when Bailey played a brilliant cross out to Tyrone Mings who under a huge amount of pressure from the Tottenham defenders headed over. Eventually, Villa did get the goal they craved when Cash whipped it in and Buendia rose highest to the cross ot make it 2-1 but it was too little too late for Villa, They had been dominated throughout the match by what really was a De Zerbi transformed Tottenham side
Spurs ended the game with 55.2% of possession, with Villa getting 44.8%. The Man of the Match Award went to Conor Gallagher with a 8.43 rating for his brilliant goal and overall contributions alongside Palhinha in midfield. What next? Spurs welcome Leeds to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium while Villa face Forest in the Europa League semi-final before going to already relegated Burnley to spark their Champions League ambition.
